Description
An average adult dugong can reach lengths of around 3 meters and weigh nearly 400kg, the same as a large cow. The front flippers can be as much as half a meter in length, they have a round body shape and are light brown or grey in colour, the calves are a pale brown. They have a flattened tale, but no fin on their back, the upper lip is covered in bristles. The ears and the eyes are on the side of the head, their nostrils are near the front of the head, which enables them to breath with most of their body beneath the water (as they are mammals).
